Birthday wishes

1 min read
Thank you to everyone for the warm birthday wishes yesterday.  Yes, indeedy, I celebrated my "21st" birthday yesterday.  (No, it wasn't actually my 21st, but I am old enough to drink and it's all downhill from there, so I'm forever going to be 21.)

Quick update: Given the new job, I'm very limited on free time anymore, but I am trying to get some cubee work done when I can.

Shout outs: A very big thank you to all my watchers and even those who aren't watching but have fav'ed some of my works.  I never thought to look at my counters, but I'm already over 50k pageviews and that's far more than I ever expected to get just for doing something that brings me some joy.  So, again, THANK YOU!!!  YOU ALL ROCK!!!   :D :D :D

Hey, everyone.

First of all, I want to thank all of my fans/friends who have requested various works from me over the years and I ESPECIALLY want to thank everyone for their patience in how long it has taken me to complete some of the requests.  For the last 14 months, I have been trying to get stuff done during free time at work when I wasn't doing school work.  I'm done with school now, which has given me more free time to do things a little bit faster.  That being said, however, I have come to the realization that I have been using my work on DA to put off looking as hard as I need to for another job (one that will pay enough that I won't have to work weekends also).  I really like all the free time I have in my current position, but I'm as far as I can go here so I need to find something with a different employer if I'm to make the money I need to have time with my family back.  I'm afraid that a new employer won't likely offer me nearly the amount of free time, so I'm also afraid that I may be out of the cubee-making game soon (at least for the most part).

To that end, I will no longer be accepting requests for cubees.  (I may honor suggestions, but I equally may not.  That will all depend on free time, inspiration, etc.)  I will not be leaving anyone out in the cold, though; I will work to fulfill all of my current requests, so those with their names on the list have nothing to worry about.

If it turns out that I will have the free time to begin taking requests again at whatever new job I get, I will definitely let you all know.  Until then, it has been an honor and I thank all of you very much.  I'm proud of all my work and would not have even thought about many of the cubees that you all have requested.

Here's to you, cubee requesters!

"Hey, howdy, hey," said the cowboy.  (Those of you with kids will get the reference.)  I realize that I have been very slow to post things of late and I just wanted to let you all know that I'm not dead... yet... though 2 jobs and school are really testing my limits.  On the plus side, I'm almost done with school (middle of August can't come soon enough).  On the down side, I'm doing two classes at once for the full time between now and then, so my posts for the next few months will continue to be sparse, but I'm still going to try to get as much posted as I can.  I'll be skipping around through all of my requests trying to focus first on the easier ones and/or the ones for which I already have templates.  That being said, I'm sorry to everyone who gets temporarily skipped, but rest assured that I will definitely come back to your request(s) as soon as I can.

Until then, remember: "a diminutive psychic on the run is a small medium at large."  Ha ha ha ha
I hope you all enjoyed that pun as much as I did.  Thanks to :iconpaperart: for that one.

Upcoming art

For those of you who follow my work, I just wanted to drop a line.  I'm currently working on some Earth-30 (Red Son) cubees that I'm really enjoying.  Most of them are done by request, but not all of them; what's the point of starting a collection if you're not going to do the whole set (at least the main characters), right?  Strangely, the Earth-30 Bizarro has been the most fun to do.

But I digress.  After I get this set posted, I'm planning on doing 2 massively complex cubees: Supra Adaptoid and Amazette.  These are female versions of the Super Adaptoid and Amazo robots from the Marvel and DC universes (respectively) that are each able to assimilate the powers of any hearo/heroine that they meet.  The concept of both women was originally portrayed by :iconcallmepoe: in his piece called The Ultimate Throwdown (fav.me/d4r38j9).  There will likely be a small amount of change in order to incorporate the two women whose powers are being used to depict representation (I would like to visually include all the women originally represented instead of cutting some out but I don't have the luxury of showing them in action like he did).  I may do a second set exactly as he drew them once I have the templates made.  I'm just not sure at this precise moment in time.  I'll be honest, I'm a little (okay, a lot) excited about this project.

After I'm done with those two powerhouses, I plan to move back into my requests list.  I will likely do a set from the requests by others list (like the Kingdom Come set), then one or two from the list of requests for me, then back to the requests for others and so on in that fashion.  Additionally, it has occurred to me that there may be some people out there who want only one or two cubees from a set and are stuck with having to download the entire set.  (I know "all they've got to do is download the set and only extract the ones they want", but that's still unnecessary work on their part.)  To that end, you may see a large number of posts in the near future as I work to upload each cubee individually from all my sets.  They're not all new or anything like that, just being uploaded separately (in addition to the sets that will still remain available and will get updated as I add more to them... like the Fantastic Four set that currently only has Doctor Doom in it).  I just wanted to give you all a heads up about that.

On a side note, it has been asked of me why I don't submit my art to one of the cubee groups out there.  My answer to that is that I am intentionally leaving that up to my fans.  If you all like my work and think that it belongs in a group where it might be viewed more readily by others, feel free to suggest it (I can't think of any reason at the moment that I would not approve its submission).  If you don't feel that it is up to snuff and worthy of being publicly viewed, then don't suggest it to any group; it honestly won't hurt my feelings in the least.  I do my work because I enjoy it; I post it so that those who will also enjoy it can as well (those who don't enjoy my art are free to pass on by with no hard feelings).  That being said, I sincerely hope you have enjoyed my work in the past and that you continue to like my work in the future.  If you have any suggestions on how I could improve my work, please don't hesitate to drop me a note.

*insert catchy closing here*,

Cubee-confusion

2 min read
Hello to all my fellow cubeecrafters.
Those of you who have submitted cubee templates (not pictures of completed cubees) have likely had them moved and been told that the Cubeecraft gallery under Artisan Crafts - Paper Folding isn't the correct place; I know I did and have made a point to not submit any new deviations until I get a straight answer as to where I need to put my templates and why.  You may also have seen TheFlyingDachshund's Journal to the same effect.

I opened a ticket with the DA Helpdesk to try to get this fiasco figured out.  Thus far, this is what I've received:

"As I understand it, the Artisan Craft gallery is only for the tangible, finished product, not for designs, patterns, charts, graphs, or tutorials. So, if you had submitted a photo of a finished Cubeecraft thingy, it would have been fine where it was, but patterns themselves should not go there.
It would be nice though if there were a subcategory under Cubeecraft for templates. I will suggest this to my director."

As I mentioned before, I think it would help us cubee-ers out greatly if we all open tickets with the Helpdesk when our templates get moved so that the Helpdesk director will see how many of us there are and give more consideration to allowing templates in the Cubeecraft category or at least making a Cubeecraft category under some other gallery specifically for the templates.

To reiterate 7ater (on the chance that clarity is not an option with regards to template placement), be sure to tag your cubee templates with the terms "cubee" or "cubeecraft" so that they can be found with the search.  (I, personally, tag all mine with both of those and "papercraft" just to play on the safe side.)

Here's to a (hopefully) soon end to this cubee-confusion.
